DOUG JONES at DARK DELICACIES
Friday June 11, 2010 —
Last Friday, character actor DOUG JONES did a signing at the Dark Delicacies Book Store at its new location on Magnolia Blvd in Burbank.
He had an awesome display of photos of movies and TV shows he appeared in (i.e. HELLBOY, PAN’S LABYRINTH and BUFFY – THE VAMPIRE SLAYER).
Being the genuine nice guy he is, Doug was the consummate hugger, as he literally got up and embraced each fan.
Even your’s truly was not spared. Ha!
He even gave me a signed copy of the comic book adaptation of SUPER CAPERS, one of the movies he appears in (as Agent Smith #1).
Here’s Doug pointing out his drawn image:
and the live action version of said character:

My friend Frank Woodward was covering Doug for an upcoming documentary project that shall be officially announced shortly – it sounds pretty cool.
One new project that Doug was promoting was his appearance in the new zombie horror web series UNIVERSAL DEAD, which he appears in the second episode. Looks pretty cool.
Every fan received this free signed character poster of Doug (above)
The series also stars notable character actors DB SWEENEY and
GARY GRAHAM as well as VALERIE PEREZ and MICHAEL BRODERICK.
It was written by Writer/Producer KELLY PARKS and directed by VERNON MORTENSEN. Performing Production Design duties was my friend E. C. MCMULLEN Jr. (aka FEO AMANTE of FEOAMANTE.COM)
UNIVERSAL DEAD has been getting great press from various sites, even from the likes of TMZ & UNIVISION:

I love that! What a great report — Doug’s warmth really shines through in every picture. How is the new store? (Pics were too close up to get an overview… is it more spacious than the last one? I still prefer their very first location – it was too small for them, but it was cozy.)
Thanks! Yeah, I knew he was a nice guy, judging by everything you’ve stated about him in the past. BUt I had no idea just how EXTREMELY nice he really was to EVERYONE!
The store is not that different – still cozy. More spacious length wise, yet more easier for signings inside, as far as setting up tables/lines.
But not too convenient for them & neighboring stores to have lines outside, if Dark Delicacies still decide to do a MAJOR event like the ELM STREET LEGACY DVD signing.
Whew! Is there such a thing as TOO exhaustive a report? Great work amigo!
Too exhaustive? 😉
Shoot! I’m just gettin’ started, like our red-headed gal pal Staci above! Thanks! Glad you dug the blog!
Wow. That’s incredible. That looks like it was so awesome. That place looks fantastic. I really like Doug Jones. I’m a big fan. Thanks for your comment on my Christina post.
Thanks Keith! It was a fun time. Plus Doug and some friends of his even hung out with a group of us for pizza and a movie (DISTRICT 9) afterwards at a new acquaintance’s house.
You’re absolutely welcome on the comment. Yes, EXCELLENT photo blog you did on CHRISTINA HENDRICKS!: http://lotsofsugarandspice.blogspot.com/
